Section Information for Spring 2017
In this course, we will study various forms of mass media (such as television, film, news, and Internet) and the role media play in the shaping of society, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. Students will learn to think critically about media institutions, content, and the production and reception of media. And we will explore topics such as dominant media representations of class, gender, and ethnicity, and the use of mass media for revolution, social and environmental movements, and civic engagement.
